SUMMARY

In charge of planning, initiation, and control of supplier-related quality management activities within the guidelines of the Quality Management manual, with the objective of ensuring quality products/components from supply base that will support design, development and OEM requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Coach/assist supply base with adherence to CLIENT’s procedure and requirements, and provide training where deemed necessary to ensure compliance.

·       Perform system and/or process audits, for potential and current suppliers; Development of supply base, where deemed necessary, as directed by Supplier Quality Management (SQM) team. Knowledge of advanced quality management processes (Feasibility Review, Component Review, APQP, PPAP, Run at Rate, Safe Launch Concept, etc.)

·       Supplier contact for Supplier Quality initiatives and corrective action initiation/follow-up for SQM activities.

·       Development of supplier goal agreements to ensure that improvements are established and maintained by supply base.

·       Track performance to goal agreements (ppm levels, quality ratings) by both supplier and CLIENT.

·       Lead Supplier Improvement Programs caused by poor supplier performance and escalation activities.

·       Supplier visitations to verify corrective actions as required.  Identify potential cost reduction activities/ideas at supply base.  Work with buyers to achieve successful implementation of cost reduction ideas.

·       Support Purchasing with supplier selection and resource decisions based on knowledge of supply base, visitations to supply base, audits performed at supply base. Close interaction with Purchasing initiatives, goals and objectives such as global ratings systems, procedures, VA/VE implementation, strategic planning and sourcing.

·       Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

·       3 to 5 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, purchasing or engineering experience in an Automotive Manufacturing Tier 1 environment (cross-functional exposure preferred – technical and commercial experience)

·       Four-year University/College Degree in Business or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial)

·       Advanced level of MS Office

·       Knowledge in the company’s duties and responsibilities in accordance with environmental legislation.

·       Experience in performing system and process audits. Strong understanding in the implementation and requirements of IATF 16949, AIAG procedures such as PPAP, FMEA, etc. Knowledge of VDA 6.4, ISO14001, and OHSAS 18001.

·       Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and a strong understanding of component and product functionality are important assets.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must be fluent in English. Working-level second language skills is a plus. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and directors, and to present to groups of customers or employees of the organization. Values and considers the perspectives and backgrounds of all parties.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The environment will vary in this position based on assignments.  When working in the office environment noise is generally minimal.

The environment in manufacturing plants and testing labs are often loud, hot, and with particulates in the air. Working environment may contain potentially hazardous materials such as acids, solvents, oils, and common etchants. In such environments, adherence to PPE regulations is required.

WORK HOURS

Employees must be able to work additional hours and/or additional days during the payroll week which can be in excess of forty (40) hours per payroll week.
